“Who Am I?” Freebie

One of my absolute favorite times in life is the preschool age! Children are learning to do so many things, and they get so excited about it – it’s such a thrill to see their little eyes light up when they learn something new.

One thing that I remember about my own childhood was making a time capsule. Of course, this was at my middle school, and they probably wouldn’t appreciate my going back to dig up the box – if they haven’t built over it or something. I remember a picture my brother did for my dad when he was little, where he wrote down many things that made “Daddy” special to him. My mom framed it and it was placed on the wall, alongside a picture I had drawn for him.

Looking at these brings a smile to my face, as I am taken back to that time in my life. In my desire for my children to have something to look back on, I created a little booklet called “Who Am I?”. They were so excited to talk about themselves, and I either let them write in the answers or helped them. We discussed how unique and special they were, and how God made them exactly the way He wanted – there isn’t one thing that He made wrong!

Below are samples of some of the pages we did with the pages slipped into plastic sleeves, thus some of the extra marks. :)  DS1 drew these pictures and then I scanned them to keep for FOREVER! There’s also pages for them to draw and keep without the dry erase option - but this is something we like to do as well.

Each page has lines large enough for beginner writers, and the lines are solid black/ dotted/ solid red for easier identification of where each letter should go. This is an activity that I am keeping for a memory keepsake and love it just how he did it, despite the letters not exactly where they should be. :) When used as a lesson, I would then encourage him to write the letters correctly – practice makes perfect.

That’s another great thing about this book being a download, I can print it off time and time again, and see the progress he makes with his writing and drawing.

As part of our “FALL”ow Me to Sonbeams contest, one of the entry methods was to sign up for the newsletter.
