Can you believe that December is already here? Christmas trees are going up, lights are hanging, festive music is playing, and gifts are being bought. Your child sees ALL of this, but are they seeing CHRIST as the main focus of this season?

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing fun ideas for you and your child – some CHRISTmas and some just for the holiday season in general.

One thing we have done in the past to focus on the Lord is to buy a nativity scene for our home. The children see how simple of a place Jesus was born in. We talk about how the bed He had was a manger, the feeding bin for the animals. They can see and touch the people, the animals – and it seems to make the Christmas story come alive and more real.

Imagine how cold it must’ve been in a barn. Imagine how it must’ve smelled. Would we want to stay in a place like that for long, much less overnight and longer? God’s Son, the Most High King, was born in just that place. He entered this world, not as a ‘high and mighty’ king, but as a humble king. He became one of us – life started that way, and continued that way.

He didn’t put Himself higher than others, but became as others. He was real, human – yet God at the same time. How wonderful of a Saviour He is! While I know this season brings about lots of hustle and bustle, let’s not forget to mention at least once a day how Christmas is really CHRISTmas – it’s all about Him!

Okay, now I want to mention that I’ve got a new Gingerbread Game almost complete. We used it ourselves today with great success! I used the SAME game for 3 different children, learning 3 different things. It’s all in the package! A great way to teach letters, numbers, matching, spelling, and math.
