I know, I know – Summer is just getting started good, and I’m already talking about another school year. It’ll be here before you know it, and I just wanted to give a heads up for some things you can be on the lookout for and start saving up!

As I’ve mentioned before, Sonbeams isn’t about just learning, but showing you how you can do it on a budget! Many crafts and activities can be done at a fraction of the cost by using alternative materials that you already have at home.

Items to start stashing -

* Paper towel/ toilet paper tubes

* Cereal/ other food boxes (clean, with no crumbs, you don’t want to collect bugs)

* Extra noodles, rice, beans (never throw out old, unless it’s completely ruined – these make great accessories for craft projects)

Items to stock up on -

* Construction Paper

* Cotton Balls

* Paintbrushes

* Glue

* Glitter

* Crayons

* Cardstock

* Yarn

There’s lots more items than these that you can use in your learning/ crafts, but most of these are items you already have at home. For other items, check out dollar stores first – you can usually find a much lower price on school supplies at these.

You might also want to pick up several sheets of posterboard, to make your calendar and charts on (for ABC Bible Verses, Numbers, and Colors). You’ll see how I make these in the Member’s Packet – see below for more info on how to sign up for this.

The fall season will be here before you know it – so start gathering your items now to avoid a mad rush in August!

I also want to note that due to our moving, we are facing a lot of extra financial issues that we weren’t expecting. This has brought to mind how we aren’t the only ones in this type situation right now – many families are cutting corners wherever they can!

That said, the Lord once again showed me that my purpose in Sonbeams is to show and equip you as a parent how to teach your child about the Lord, and present His truths to them as best as I can – and not about earning a little money.
